Pierre Garçon (English pronunciation: /piˈɛər ɡɑrˈsoʊn/; born August 8, 1986,[1] in West Palm Beach, Florida)[2] is an American football wide receiver of Haitian descent[3] for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. Leonard High School in Greenacres, Florida.[4] He earned two varsity letters in football and also competed in track and soccer.[1] [edit] College career Garçon started his college career at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. As a freshman in 2004, he played in ten games and had 44 receptions for 1,017 yards and 13 touchdowns. Wanting! to play in a more football oriented program, he transferred to Mount Union College in the Ohio Athletic Conference . He averaged over 60 catches, 1000 yards and 15 touchdowns in his career as a Purple Raider. While at Mount Union he led the team to two consecutive Div III National Championships, falling just short of a third.[1] During his sophomore season in 2005, he earned Ohio Athletic Conference second-team honors after having 68 receptions for 1,196 yards and 16 touchdowns. As a junior, he was named to the Ohio Athletic Conference first-team and was the recipient of the Ed Sherman Award for the OAC's most outstanding receiver.[5] That season, he was third in the nation with 1,212 receiving yards and had 67 receptions with 17 touchdowns. As a senior in 2007, Garcon was Ohio Athletic Conference first-team and was the recipient of the Ed Sherman Award, for the second time. He had 67 receptions for 955 yards and 14 touchdowns.[6] [edit] Professional career [ed! it] Indianapolis Colts Pierre Garçon was drafted by the India! napolis Colts in 2008 and he spent the entire season as a backup receiver. Working his way into the active roster in 2009, Garçon was named Reggie Wayne's back-up. After Anthony Gonzalez's injury in week 1, Garçon moved up to the starting W2 position. He started until a hand injury caused him to miss weeks 16 and 17. The 2009 season saw the young receiver carve a niche as a deep threat in Peyton Manning's passing attack. Garçon had 47 receptions for 765 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2009. In 2010, Garçon had the starting receiving position most of the season. He had a career-high 67 receptions for 784 yards and 6 touchdowns. [edit] Washington Redskins On March 13, 2012, Garçon signed with the Washington Redskins. He signed a 5-year, $42.5 million dollar contract.
